In the time that I have known {Name} I have come to see that {he/she} is tirelessly hard working, often staying at {his/her job} long hours in order to provide for {his/her} {number} children, who are only {children's ages}. While {he/she} admits to driving under the influence, the fact remains that {his/her} children rely on their {mother/father} for not only the basic necessities, but the unique relationship {he/she} has cultivated. Every {amount of time}, {Name} takes them out to {special activity}.

{Name} has admitted that {he/she} has a problem with substance abuse, and is actively seeking help by attending {counseling/AAA/rehab, etc.}. {He/she} is not, by nature or disposition, an addict. The dependence upon {substance} began only {amount of time} ago. It became a problem because {Name} was struggling in an attempt to cope with {illness, job loss, family death}. It has been a trying time, but {Name} is making a sincere effort to pull {his/her} life back together in order to be able to provide love and sustenance to {his/her} family.

I have known {Name} a long time, and {he/she} always achieves what {he/she} sets {his/her} mind to with dedication and sheer force of will. I hope that you will consider the tenacity, self-awareness and courage of this wonderful person during a troubled period in {his/her} life. Thank you for your consideration.
